Your teeth are definitely one of the things that people notice when they look at your face, which is why it is important to keep it healthy and white at all times. Scott W. Grant, DMD, Meridian’s cosmetic dentistry leader, cites some tips on how you can keep your teeth white after your teeth whitening procedure.
1. Steer clear of some food and drinks.
Some types of food and drinks can stain your teeth, which is why you should avoid some of them. Some of the most common ones that can stain your teeth are red wine, coffee, black tea, and soft drink or soda. If you can’t avoid drinking these, then at least brush your teeth right after consuming it.
Increase your water intake instead. This way, you will not be helping only your teeth, but your overall health as well!
2. Practice good dental hygiene.
Always remember to brush your teeth twice to thrice per day. This way, you can keep your teeth healthy and free from staining and cavities. Additionally, you should also gargle with an alcohol-free mouthwash. This will help get rid of the bacteria that are inside your mouth.
Lastly, floss in between your teeth regularly to get rid of the food that is stuck in between your teeth. You can also chew on some sugar-free gum or carry a breath freshener with you at all times.
3. Avoid smoking and visit the dentist regularly.
Cigarettes contain nicotine, which can stain your pearly whites. If you cannot give up smoking altogether, then try switching to a vape instead. It still has some nicotine in it, but definitely less compared with an actual cigarette.
You should also see to it that you visit your dentist regularly to get your teeth cleaned and whitened when it needs to be.
